Valen joined the ARCH team in March 2012 as a research assistant for the Partners in LIFE project. Prior to working with the ARCH team, she earned her B.A. in Healthcare and Health Disparities from the University of Connecticut in May 2011, where she also worked as a research assistant for the Center of Health Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) doing HIV/AIDS research. After graduation, she taught 8th grade physical science at a charter school in south central Los Angeles for a semester. Valen enjoys working with the ARCH team on the diverse number of projects that find innovative ways to improve health.
